Ms. Kathleen Castillo joined the SMSU academic and mentoring faculties in Fall 2025 to oversee pastoral formation. She served in the same role on the faculties of Saints Cyril and Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, MI for four years and Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, NY for twenty years. Her work involves helping seminarians discern learning needs and goals toward their future priesthood. She provides orientation and professional support for supervisors who enable seminarians to experience spiritual, material and human ministry at community settings, parishes and hospitals. Ms. Castillo engages faculty, seminarians, and supervisors in the practice of theological reflection that enable students to deepen personal and ministerial understanding. In addition, professionals in various disciplines are brought to campus to help students deepen understanding and skill in various human and pastoral areas. Ms. Castillo’s greatest professional joy is sharing with others through group community-based efforts and learning, her passion to promote the dignity of the human person, just access to resources, and alternatives to violence.
